Buchanan Hardwoods

The same great people that own Granite Hardwoods started out in the hardwoods industry back in 1929. When R.W. (Mr. Buck) Buchanan with his three sons and other partners founded Buchanan Hardwoods in 1960, he already had 31 years experience in running hardwood sawmills in Alabama. They knew quality and service hardwood users wanted and set out about building his organization around three important principles:

  1. Produce a consistently high quality product.
  2. Deliver the products on the date when promised.
  3. Provide the customer with this quality and service at a competitive price.

While the company has grown to be a major supplier of hardwood lumber worldwide, it is still guided by Mr. Buck's original business principles. The business is still a "family" enterprise...run by his two sons: Wallace and Bill Buchanan. Richard Buchanan, his other son, was active from 1960 until his death in 1990. In addition, there are many third generation Buchanans now working in the organization, such as Bull Buchanan Jr., who manages the day to day operation of the Aliceville mill. Richard's older son, R.W. Buchanan III (Woody), manages the company's Appalachian yard, Granite Hardwoods, and Richard's younger son, Michael Buchanan manages the Montgomery mill.

As you can see, Granite Hardwoods has deep roots in the hardwoods industry which can only mean it has years of tradition and experience. For a full information packet on Buchanan and/or Granite Hardwoods, just Email or call us and we'll get a package out immediately.
